OUR MISSION

Our mission is to let those who serve this great nation know we honor their commitment, and remain appreciative for their unselfish sacrifice.  Our goal is to share a small piece of home thru our big gourmet chocolate chip cookies.  “Grammy’s Chocolate Chip Hugs” represent something much larger than just satisfying one’s sweet tooth.  It is our way of saying thank you to all the brave heroes, who continue to protect a grateful nation, and to let them know our thoughts and prayers remain with them always.

Who We Are

Grammy’s cookie convoy became a recognized non profit in 2005. The project went into action after a brief meeting with a young man named Michael Johnson (pictured below) who was being deployed overseas to Iraq. It began as a grassroots effort sending support to a few of our heroes as they served our nation. Response from the troops clearly indicated that there was a need for this kind of support, and the project grew exponentially. Each shipment currently includes 10,000 cookies along with the same number of handwritten notes from volunteers across the nation. Fundraising efforts and workdays have included a host of compassionate, loyal volunteers who join us in sharing support to our troops serving overseas.

SPC. Adam Michael Johnson

My Name is SPC. Adam Michael Johnson, I entered the U.S ARMY in 2003 where I was shipped off to Fort Benning, GA to complete army basic training followed by advanced infantry training and army airborne school. After completing training and a short leave I was deployed to IRAQ from 2005 through 2007. My unit was the 143rd (Long Range Surveillance Detachment). Our unit was the first unit to receive care packages from Grammy's Cookie Convoy. Mrs. Marlene Summers, touched my life, my family's life and my unit's life. Thank you to an amazing woman that became not only a person generous with her time and dedication to the Military but also a personal friend to myself and my family, that even to this day keeps in touch with me. I pray that the hard work and sacrifice will continue to bless and make many more soldiers smile when receiving packages with her amazing cookies. Thank you so much for your love and support.

How it works?

We ship chocolate chip cookies and thank you cards to our deployed service members each year. We have one mega shipment that goes out the morning after Super Bowl Sunday and also fulfill requests throughout the year provided we have cookies in stock. All our cookie packing is done by various volunteers and non profit organizations. Our thank you cards come from far and wide and we have had many different people from across America send us cards. Each cookie that is shipped is accompanied by a hand written card to give the chocolate chip cookie an extra special feeling of home.

"We have currently shipped over 346,618 cookies, there is a need for more support each and every day for our service members"

Quick Stats Of Our Progress

With the project reaching its fifteenth year as a recognized 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization we have currently shipped over 346,618 cookies, and cards to service members overseas. We ship to all five branches of the military during their deployment. We were able to double our efforts last year due to the generosity of those who sponsored our first charity golf tournament.
